Last Friday took place the third local Internations event for Lyon, which I attended. This strongly increasing online community has been created for expatriates, for people who live and work abroad and for all those who are interested in international and intercultural matters and exchange.
The meeting point was the very fine restaurant Quai des Arts, that is situated in the midst of Lyon’s 22,000 square meter big art and culture temple, Les Subsistances. The view on the river Saône is charming and lends the perfect ambiance for (business) meetings and other occasions.
We were in between 15 and 20 people originally coming from countries such as Turkey, Brazil, Guadeloupe, Canada, France and Germany and the official languages were English and French. The whole evening reminded me of my time I had spent in Lyon thanks to ERASMUS, 6 years ago. Only this time, people were working and we did not meet up in a typical student bar but in a dignified restaurant – by the way, the Entrecôte with St. Marcelin sauce, the potato gratin and the glass of Crozès Hermitage I had were delicious!
All in all, I spent a great night among like-minded people and made many interesting conacts. I’m looking forward to the next event and I have to say that I think the idea to organise a day where everybody prepares a typical dish, dessert or hors-d’oeuvre of their country is ingenieus!
For those who would like too join Internations (on personal invitation only), please contact me. I will send you the email invitation straight away.
