Last Friday, the first German Recruitment Blogger meeting took place in Bavaria’s capital, Munich. Marcus, Thorsten zur Jacobsmühlen, Jeannette-Freya and Nadia, Gerhard, Thorsten Mensching and myself met up at Marcus’ place (who actually lives just next to the Hofbräukeller) and took off to have a few beers at the local beergarden.

Most of the bloggers had never met “for real” before, and, during five hours, we chatted about everything that had (and hadn’t!!) to do with job sites and online recruitment. We had such a good time that we decided to repeat this experience. So the next event might possibly take place in September, at the occasion of the annual HR Congress Zukunft Personal in Cologne, Germany. Come and join us!

While we were at the Hofbräukeller, Jobscout24‘s mascot “Scouty” paid us a visit (kudos to Christoph from their Online Marketing department who was sweating under the costume’s weight). That was a really cool marketing gag. They had brought us branded mugs and sweets. Of course, it was easy for them to drop by since their offices are just a few minutes from the beergarden. Unfortunately, the other Munich-based job board stellenanzeigen.de did not show up. Booh.

Anyway, we had lots of fun and we learnt some very interesting things:

  • Ordering traditional Bavarian white sausages after 2pm is both forbidden and a sacrilege (however, we managed to have the “tourist bonus” and convinced the waiter to prepare some nevertheless)
  • There will soon be another German Job Search engine, created by Marcus. (to be continued later)
  • Hypnosis can help you to give up smoking and there are dentists who use it instead of anesthesia (wow)
  • If you have never tasted “Kaiserschmarrn” in Bavaria, honestly, go for it! It is really delicious

See you next time?
